Avery Fedora — Camel

Most sun hats make you choose. You can have real coverage, or you can have something you'd wear out to dinner. The Avery is Wallaroo's answer to that trade-off: a proper fedora line with a brim wide enough to do actual work.

Japanese glazed paper

The Avery is woven from 100% Japanese glazed paper. It's a tight weave with a subtle sheen, and the difference shows up the moment you handle it. Soft straw slumps and softens with wear. This holds its crown, keeps a sharp pinch at the front, and stays light on your head through a long afternoon. Four eyelets sit above the grosgrain band so warm air leaves the crown instead of pooling under it.

A brim that earns its keep

Two and a half inches. Wide enough to put your face and the back of your neck in shade when the sun is high, narrow enough that the hat still reads as a fedora rather than a beach hat. It's the range where a hat stops being purely functional and starts being part of what you're wearing — the reason the Avery turns up on golf courses, on hotel terraces, and at outdoor weddings in roughly equal measure.

UPF 50+

The fabric is rated UPF 50+ and blocks 97.5% of ultraviolet rays, per the Australian Radiation Protection Agency. UV bounces off sand, water, and pavement and reaches your skin from below, so a hat is one layer of your sun protection rather than all of it. Within its own job, this fabric does that job about as well as fabric can.
